Women in the 1940s in working uniforms

Because of World War 2, women were needed in factories to take the place of men. Fashion shifted to simple blues and blacks, with many women wearing pants while working. Rosie the Riveter was an inspiration for women on the home front. Half up and half down hairstyles were popular.


UK military uniforms from World War 2

Menswear did not progress much throughout the decade because of WW2. Men in movies and magazines were depicted in military uniforms. Military uniforms were seen as dignified and those in them were quite respected.
